William "The Refrigerator" Perry
For 10 seasons the fridge brought the thunder to opponents all around the NFL. Perry entered the pop culture lexicon as a member of the infamous '85 Chicago Bears defense. Of course, he also played fullback in goal line and short yardage situations. Sometimes, he would block for Walter Payton, and occasionally, he would get the ball. The 320 pound sausage gut was an unstoppable force in these scenarios and even scored a touchdown in Chicago's Superbowl victory. His Superbowl ring size is the largest in history, and his playing weight later peaked out at 382 pounds, That's not bad for someone standing 6 feet 2 inches tall!
Fridge obviously is a big fan of food and even has his own brand of barbecue sauce. Once, he competed as a celebrity contestant in Nathan's Famous hot dog eating competition. Perry recorded a few rap tunes, including a single with the Fat Boys entitled "Chillin' with the Refrigerator."According to an article posted in the sportsillustrated.cnn.com website archives, he proudly proclaimed, "I was born to be big, and I ain't disappointing nobody." Fridge wasn't just big, however, he was freakishly athletic. In his prime, he could dunk a basketball, run a 40 yard dash in 5.05 seconds, and bench press 465. The Fat Athlete Hall of Fame welcomes truly one of the most athletic fat men of all, the Refrigerator.
The Round Mound of Rebound, Sir Charles Barkley
Charles Barkley was one of the most dominant power forwards in NBA history. Chuck threw his weight around the league for 16 seasons, earning 13 trips to the all star game and the 1993 MVP award. Barkley played for the legendary dream team in the Olympics. He wreaked havok on both ends of the court, and is one of 5 players to score 20,000 points and grab 10,000 boards. Barkley's jumbo size and shape match his massive personality. Barkley has gargantuan appetites that make fat guys proud the whole world round.
Chuck clearly likes to eat, and his cohorts on TNT Inside the NBA frequently tease him about his love of doughnuts. He is a legendary gambler and has owned up to losing at least 10 million dollars, including losing 2.5 million in a 6 hour run of bad luck at the blackjack table. Barkley had a reputation for fighting, and was convicted on a DUI charge in 2008. The reason he cited for running the stop sign that lead to the arrest? He told officers that he was in a hurry to get home because he was about to receive oral sex from his female passenger. While Barkley may have declared that he was not a role model, the Fat Athlete Hall of Fame would surely love to differ. You are a role model of swollen proportions in our book, sir Charles.

Babe Ruth, Original Gangster
The Great Bambino was such an o.g. fat athlete that without him, there probably would not be a hall of fame. Ruth weighs in at third on the all time home runs list, but he was undoubtedly the most dangerous offensive player in history. He lead the league in home runs 12 times and still holds the career best marks in slugging and OPS percentages, marks that will probably never be broken. The only thing greater than his prowess at the plate was his prowess at the ... well, uh, plate. Sportswriter HG Salinger noted that Ruth "could eat more, drink more, swear more, and enjoy himself more than any contemporary." The Fat Athlete Hall of Fame marvels at those career records.
According to baseballreliquary.org, the babe "was fond of drinking a quart mixture of bourbon whiskey and ginger ale at breakfast, before attacking a porterhouse steak garnished with half-a-dozen fried eggs and potatoes on the side." Truly incredible. According to fat man legend, he once collapsed after binging on hot dogs and had to be hospitalized. In recent times, however, it has been speculated that gonorrhea was the cause of the hospitalization. Either way, the Fat Athlete Hall of Fame is proud to welcome the original gangster of all fat athletes. The Sultan of Swat is the bellwether, the cornerstone, the high water mark that all fat dudes hope to reach. Babe Ruth, you inspire generations of fat men to greatness, and for that, you will always be loved.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the king... John Daly
The inaugural post for the fat athlete hall of fame is easily the king of all modern fat athletes, John Daly. Daly has been large and in charge ever since he stepped into the fat man limelight by winning the 1991 Player's Championship. Defying all odds, the rookie Daly was the 9th and final alternate, only making the tournament after Nick Price dropped out. Since that time his story has been one of fat man lore.
He is well known to enjoy booze, and he smokes ciggs while playing professionally. On one bender, Daly was arrested outside of a Winston-Salem area Hooters. Since turning pro, Daly has been divorced 3 times. Daly loves to gamble and has claimed that he has gambled as much as 50 or 60 million dollars away over his career. He has endured multiple suspensions, and based on pictures that I have found on the internet, he is a fan of topless women.
They don't come much more awesome than John Daly. He won the 1995 British Open for his second major victory. John Daly is a living legend in modern fat man times. John Daly, the Fat Athlete Hall of Fame salutes you.
